The group „Computational Soft Matter/Nanoscience and Experimental Colloidal Physics“ at the University of Tübingen addresses challenging questions in fundamental as well as in applied research. We offer a

PhD position in experimental colloidal physics (TV-L 13 (75%))

Within the research project we study crystal nucleation and microstructure formation in colloids that serve as model systems. The main scope of the PhD-project is determining how and when crystal nuclei form using laser-scanning confocal microscopy and laser-light-sheet microscopy. Developing these techniques further is necessary for this project to be a success.

 

Candidates must have a Diploma, Master’s or Honor degree in physics. An ideal candidate has excellent experimental, programming and technical skills. Knowledge of solid state physics, statistical mechanics and applied optics are helpful.

Employment, salary and benefits are governed by the collective agreement for civil service in the state Baden-Würtemberg. The wage can be raised to salary level TV-L 13 (75%) if the probationary period is deemed successful. The position is limited to three years.
